Today I would like to share my knowledge about color correcting, an important step in makeup to achieve a flawless base. For me if you have minor skin problems, you can skip it. However, color correcting can also enhance already-beautiful-skin!
First off, what is color correcting? It’s not only correct the color of your skin, but as I said, it’s also enhance the color of it. So if you have redness, dull skin, dark spots,.. color correcting can help you hind all these problems in combination of foundation.
Although it’s a step in makeup, color correcting exists in different type of products. It comes in a form of primer, CC Cream, concealer, finishing powder,..etc To distinguish color correcting products from normal base products, we just need to find the “unusual” colors in it like green, purple, straight up yellow or pink.
To work with color correcting is not that hard. The only thing we need to remember is the color wheel below.
To hide, neutralize a certain color, we use the color in opposite side of it in this color wheel. Let’s say you want to correct redness (red), you just need to use green concealer or primer (green), vice versa. That’s why some people conceal their under eyes dark circles with red lipstick. This technique doesn’t work for everyone, it’s not fault though. It’s just because depends on the skin, we have different colors of dark circles, you just need to pick the right colors in the wheel. Now that is how you use single color to correct single color. Sometimes a product comes in multiple colors combine together just as this Guerlain Meteorites. It claims to balance, brighten your complexion and I think it’s true just in certain cases. If you have major skin discoloration, you may want to use the color wheel technique. This kind of multi colors products only work with a nice base. It can be the last step in color correcting to achieve perfect skin.
So that is all my knowledge about color correcting to share with you. If you have any tips, techniques please share with me I would love to know!
