I’ve heard many good reviews about Rimmel Fix & Perfect primer but I’ve never tried it. When I was looking for a new primer to replace my beloved Smashbox Blemish Control Primer at Rimmel display, I found a new-er and upgraded version of that Perfect primer: Rimmel Fix & Protect Primer.
I was drawn to the lovely claims of this one: anti pollution, anti stress, protective shield and skin perfecting. The tube of the Canadian version (which I own) also has a claim of 8hr hydration, while the UK and Asian version has spf25 specified in the packaging. I think all versions have spf25 since they all are a protective shield (from the sun).
Rimmel Fix & Perfect has a runny and liquidy consistency. It looks white and opaque but becomes transparent once blended. I think the squeeze tube packaging is bad for this kind of texture because it leaks! I need to be super careful everytime I open it because it can run down to the floor anytime.
Apart from the unthoughtful packaging, I kinda like this primer! It gives me a nice velvety smooth base to work with. Rimmel Fix & Protect also leaves my skin a glowy finish with their micro-shimmer (don’t worry you will not look like a disco ball since the shimmers are very subtle and fine). It does hydrate my skin well but it doesn’t help prevent and control oil.
I like the fact this primer has spf 25, it gives me extra protection apart from my sunscreen. The anti pollution and anti stress are gimmicky and hard to prove.
Rimmel Fix & Protect works well with all the foundations that I own. It doesn’t prolong the wear though but it makes the foundations go on much smoother.
It has the smell of the original NIVEA cream in the blue tint case. Overall, this is a nice primer if you need extra hydration and protection.
