As a heavy makeup wearer, the cleansing and makeup removing steps is the most important process in my skincare routine. Just as other Asian girls, I’m into double, sometimes triple cleansing; and I can’t live without oil cleansing as the main power of the whole process.
When I received the samples of Shu Uemura Ultime8 Cleansing oil, I was so happy because I always wanted to try this famous product but the price is super high so I need to try it on my face first before making a purchase. With these 3 samples, I finally made up my mind and had full thoughts about it.
The retail price at Sephora is CAD48/5 oz or CAD98/15.2 oz
If you didn’t know, the cleansing oil is a 3 steps products:
- Massage the oil to your dry face with your dry hands
- Wet the face with small amount of water to emulsify the oil
- Rinse with water
Although I only have the samples, I still can tell you about the packaging of this Ultime8 cleansing oil since I played with it quite a few times at Sephora. It comes in a sturdy, transparent bottle with a tint of brown, which is a plus for me since I can see the amount of product inside. One thing can be pro and con is the plastic material of this bottle, it feels quite cheap but it’s light and convenient for travel. This product comes with a black pump to distinguish with other Shu Uemura cleansing oils in white pumps, because Ultime8 is considered as more luxurious line (infused with eight exquisite oils of botanical origin).
Even though I used the similar type of product that melts on my face in an oil texture, then transfer to milky texture with interact with water; Shu Uemura Ultim8 still surprised me when I first applied it on my face. This is the first cleansing oil that warms up when I massage it into the skin, it gives me a nice and relax feeling. It also helps to break the makeup easier. I did! It removes all of my heavy duty makeup, such as waterproof mascara and liquid lipstick. It leaves my skin super smooth, velvety and I feel no residue of oil, sebum left.
The only thing that bugs me is it makes my vision goes blurry for a couple of seconds after rinsing it. Other than that, this is an awesome product and worth the hype. Will I purchase it? No for this Ultime8 line, but I would love to try the pore line (in pink bottle) with cheaper price!
